![]() ![]() ![]() Meet OSBoxes, an ideal place to find and download all popular Unix/Linux Virtual machines. If you're anything like me, I have good news for you. I really don't have to format my Laptop/Desktop every time to test a new tool or OS. So, whenever I want to test a new tool or software, I simply copy/paste the fresh VMs form the backup and started to test those tools or OS. Also, I am maintaining a backup copy of all VMs. ![]() ![]() Now, I have more than 20 guest operating systems in my Laptop and Desktop. These tools are really helpful if you wish to test different operating systems. Now, I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as my Host OS and installed Oracle VirtualBox in it, so that I can install and play with any OS of my choice in my Laptop. I felt happy and immediately installed VirtualBox on my Laptop and started to test various Linux distributions. He told me that these tools will help you to install and test most operating systems of your choice without formatting the Host OS. If you're attempting to do this on a headless server you can edit the following files and reboot to get your eth0 networking device to come up enabled and acquire an IP address from a DHCP server. One day, one of my colleague advised me to use any Virtualization tools such as VirtualBox and VMWare etc. You'll be presented with a GUI like this:įrom this GUI you'll need to edit the eth0 setup like so: To invoke the connection editor tool do the following: $ nm-connection-editor Given this is a VM I'd recommend using NetworkManager. Starting with CentOS 6.x you can either opt to have NetworkManager manage your network setups or still do it the old fashion way and set them up manually using /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 types of files. This is a change in the CentOS installation in the 6.x versions which throws a lot of people off, including myself. You need to enable networking during installation. ![]()
